Hit Up the Pumpkin Patch If fall is synonymous with one thing, it’s pumpkins and pumpkin patches. But don’t leave your pup out of all the fun! Why not bring them along while you pick out the perfect pumpkin? But the pumpkin patch isn’t the only activity you can enjoy with your dog. You can go apple picking or even to a dog-friendly corn maze. You’ll tire them out with all the walking and you’ll get to enjoy all the fall fun. Go For a Hike Fall is the perfect time to go on a hike. Your pup won’t suffer from heat exhaustion while getting their exercise in. Not only will you get some exercise in, you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty of fall – the leaves changing and the crisp air. If you’re planning on going for an extra-long hike, try bringing along a pet carrier or pet stroller to relieve your pup. After all, you don’t want to overexert your dog! Try a Boot Camp Class When the weather is finally lower than 90 degrees, you can take the workouts outside. And what better way to make a workout more bearable than by involving your dog? Dog-friendly boot camp classes are popping up everywhere. There’s a cardio portion as well as dog obedience portion. Plus, a weight-training portion for you (and a chance for your dog to work on their obedience skills). Roll Around in the Leaves What was one of your favorite fall activities when you were younger? If you were like most children, it probably involved playing in the leaves. So, why not let your pup relive the fun? All you need to do is rake a big pile of leaves then the rest is up to you! You can throw a tennis ball in the pile and have your dog find it or throw some leaves in the air and watch your pup try and catch some. It’s a great bonding experience for the two of you and a good way to get some exercise in. Plan a Photoshoot Fall is a great time to have a themed photoshoot for your pup. For starters, the colors of fall make for a great backdrop and who doesn’t love dressing their dog up in a themed sweater? You can even substitute a bandanna if your dog isn’t the sweater type.
